POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary focus of this role is to deliver comprehensive care to patients undergoing outpatient cellular therapy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including reviewing medical histories, performing physical examinations, and assessing diagnostic imaging and laboratory results for cellular therapy patients.
- Execute necessary medical interventions, such as writing admission orders and ordering laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Identify and appropriately address urgent or emergent patient situations.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team, including physicians, nursing staff, pharmacists, stem cell laboratory personnel, cell coordinators, research teams, and consulting teams.
- Relay care plans and relevant medical information to external physicians as needed through written correspondence or phone communication.
- Oversee the coordination of outpatient cell infusions.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, potential side effects, and appropriate responses.
- Offer psychological support to patients and their families.
- Schedule necessary follow-up appointments for patients, including laboratory tests, imaging, clinic visits, and consultations.
- Manage patient care through telephonic communication as required.
- Engage in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory:
Degree qualifications as stipulated by the Texas Board of Nursing or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
A minimum of one year of experience in a role as an Advanced Practice Provider.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
Mandatory:
Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, consistent with the clinical practice area and patient demographic.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
MAY BE REQUIRED:
Eligibility for limited prescriptive authority granted by the State of Texas.
Preferred:
Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required by the specific patient care area.
