Compensation for this role is estimated to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per year.

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist Surgical Care Professional to join our team at the UT Health Science Center in Texas. As a Physician Assistant in a surgical setting, you will provide advanced medical care to patients under the direction of a surgeon.

About the Role

This position requires the ability to conduct complex patient care procedures, assess patient complaints and provide appropriate treatment, and perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician. You will also be responsible for managing pre-operative and post-operative patients, utilizing advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery, and communicating information to supervising / attending physicians.

Your expertise will be essential in providing episodic care or problem-oriented care under the supervision of a physician, ordering appropriate laboratory tests, interpreting laboratory data, and monitoring the treatment program of patients. Additionally, you will provide guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care and assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions.

You will also be responsible for entering chart documentation for review and counter-signature by the physician, preparing and caring for supplies and equipment, and responding to emergency situations.

Requirements
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
  • BLS certified or specialty required by department
  • Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work
Physical Requirements

This role requires exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
