Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Code Compliance Specialist to join our team at the City of Coachella, CA. As a Code Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for enforcing municipal codes and ordinances, investigating complaints, and providing education to the public on code compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce municipal codes and ordinances through inspections, investigations, and education
  • Investigate complaints from the public and staff regarding code violations
  • Provide education to the public on code compliance and municipal codes
  • Prepare and issue notices of violation, citations, and other correspondence
  • Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to ensure code compliance
Requirements
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by some college-level coursework or technical training in code compliance
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible municipal code compliance experience
  • Valid California class C driver's license with satisfactory driving record and automobile insurance
  • Must obtain a California PC832 certificate within six (6) months of employment
Working Conditions

The Code Compliance Specialist will work in a standard office setting and will be required to inspect various city sites, including traversing uneven terrain, climbing ladders, stairs, and other temporary or construction access points. The position will also require the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
