Job Title: Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team at CDM Smith. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for creating basic designs of electric master system plans, power system, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform studies of power systems and electrical calculations for electrical systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm, security and other similar calculations.
  • Assist with the selection and specification of electrical components including: motor control centers, switchgears, transformers, etc.
  • Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
  • Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.
  • Update design requirements as necessary.
  • Contribute to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
  • Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.

  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Employment Type: Regular

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.

Skills and Abilities: Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Good verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
