Position Overview

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in hospice care, you will:

  • Report to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist patients in maintaining personal hygiene and a safe living environment.
  • Prepare and serve light meals, and assist with feeding as necessary.
  • Support patients in mobility, including the safe use of walkers or wheelchairs.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as changing linens and emptying trash.
  • Implement specific treatments as outlined in the aide plan of care, adhering to state regulations.
  • Encourage mental engagement through activities that interest the patient.
  • Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Communicate any changes in the patient's condition to the Registered Nurse and interdisciplinary team.
  • Educate primary caregivers on basic care practices.
  • Follow infection control protocols and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and quality improvement activities as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A compassionate heart, demonstrating kindness and empathy towards patients and their families.
  • The ability to provide care in various home settings.
  • Flexibility and composure in supporting others during challenging times.
  • A valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
  • A minimum of six months of patient care experience in hospice, home health, ICU, geriatric, or oncology settings is preferred.
  • A current driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR certification.
