Our client, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a highly skilled Automation Expert Leader to join their team in Wilmington, MA.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in automation solutions and leadership skills to oversee the development of complex control systems for life sciences facilities. As an Automation Expert Leader, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing automation solutions that meet our clients' requirements. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians to provide high-quality solutions, ensuring timely completion of projects while maintaining excellent relationships with customers.

About the Position

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in automation engineering, with expertise in PLC hardware/software platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Modicon. Additionally, experience with HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms like GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, and Inductive Automation's Ignition is required. Familiarity with electrical schematics and AutoCAD is also desired.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop innovative automation solutions and lead a team to implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet our clients' requirements.
  2. Conceptualize, detail, and implement control system architectures, select components, and create schematic diagrams and system documentation.
  3. Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU), process visualization (HMI/SCADA), and develop databases for archiving/displaying historical system data.
  4. Implement and commission control systems at client facilities.
  5. Manage project execution plans, work breakdown structures, and associated budgets, task prioritization and scheduling, time tracking, and reporting.
  6. Oversee daily operations and activities of projects up to $1M and ensure overall profitability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
  • Experience in Life Sciences, particularly in liquid and/or powder facilities/companies is essential.
  • Batch S88 experience is necessary, especially in small molecule - fluids, powders environments.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements of the life science industry, including cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5, and System and Software Development Life Cycles methodologies.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • Professional references, preferably one from each of the following: a subordinate, a peer, and a manager, are required.
Estimated Salary Range:$120,000-$180,000 per year, depending on experience
