The Aircraft Ground Repositioning Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely movement of all aircraft by operating ground service equipment from all points on taxiways and ramp surfaces. This role ensures that all aircraft moved in daily operations meet Spirit Airlines' safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate multiple aircraft systems, including power units, electrical, hydraulic, and braking systems.
- Communicate with air traffic control and local ramp control to successfully reposition aircraft on the tarmac, including active taxiways and runways.
- Aid in securing and supporting aircraft on gates and in remote locations, utilizing ground service equipment such as power units, air stairs, and air carts.
- Responsible for adhering to all safety guidelines, including pre- and post-move safety inspections.
- Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to operate and position Jetway safely to aircraft.
- Guide aircraft to and from parking locations, ensuring the area is clear of ground service equipment, stands, and other items for safe movement.
- Capable of brake riding aircraft, operating radios, and aircraft systems for safe movement.
- Valid Driver License required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous Ground Operations experience preferred.
- Experience with basic work processing, email, and office applications.
- Ability to perform under pressure and fixed time constraints.
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain all necessary badging.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to use handheld radios and headsets to communicate with the cockpit, dispatch, and other team members.
- Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and work stands unassisted; work off of stands and lift trucks.
- Must be willing to work in an environment subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels.
- Must have excellent communication and people skills; clearly write, read, and speak the English language.
