Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our Blood Bank team at UMass Memorial Health. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective transfusion of blood products to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret various immunohematological tests to provide compatible blood for transfusion
  • Follow established Blood Bank protocols and procedures
  • Prepare component blood products for transfusion
  • Provide guidance and consultation to lower-level technologists and technicians
  • Interpret and correlate clinical test results with patient history and diagnosis
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related field
  • Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist program
  • ASCP certification as an MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP)
  • Minimum of three years of relevant Blood Bank experience
Work Schedule

This position requires a 40-hour workweek, with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call coverage may be required.
