Senior Maintenance Worker II

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Worker II to join our team at the City of Savannah. This role involves performing complex maintenance and repairs of the City's stormwater system, as well as maintaining City buildings, parks, athletic facilities, parking structures, public works, and cemeteries.
Key Responsibilities- Assist an assigned crew in ensuring they have adequate supplies to complete assignments.
- Transport vehicles to the city shop for routine maintenance and services as needed.
- Perform concrete and asphalt repair of public and roadways, parking lots, curbs, and sidewalks.
- Maintain storm drainage systems.
- Estimate the cost of repairs, select and requisition necessary equipment and related supplies, oversee all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness, and safety, and inspect completed work to ensure quality.
- Provide maintenance and repair work and supervise a small work crew, assign, review, and inspect work, guide task performance, train and develop employees, provide input to employee performance appraisals, promote and observe safe work practices.
- Perform general maintenance duties, clean debris from ditches, mow ditches with line trimmers, load debris onto trucks, pick up litter, blow leaves.
- Clean and maintain stormwater facilities, including mowing grass, removing litter, repairing fences, and other equipment.
- Respond to emergencies after hours and on weekends.
- Serve as a member of the Critical Workforce during hurricanes and other natural disasters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of related maintenance experience necessary.
- Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license.
- Must have an acceptable driving history.
