About Our Team:

The Scientific Applications team at Promega is a dynamic group of scientists who work closely with customers and internal teams to drive product research and development, manufacturing, and sales. Our team provides flexible, lab-based scientific support across Promega's diverse product portfolio, adapting chemistries to solve customers' unique problems and optimizing existing products for new uses. We collaborate with scientists in academic, biotech, and medical diagnostics industries to solve technology-related problems, resulting in an immediate impact and a highly rewarding work environment.

Your Role:

As a Scientific Applications Intern, you will work with an Applications Scientist to plan and execute experiments across our diverse product portfolio, supporting scientists who are our current and future customers in using Promega chemistries in their research. You will communicate results through written reports and oral presentations during Scientific Applications lab meetings, gaining experience and training on various technologies and areas of molecular biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute nucleic acid purification protocols and evaluate the quality of nucleic acid preparations by electrophoresis and spectrophotometric analysis.
  • Communicate experimental goals, methods, results, and conclusions through written reports and oral presentations.
  • Maintain clear and complete records of laboratory procedures and results.
  • Maintain mammalian cells through routine tissue culture, monitoring cell health and expanding cultures as needed for Applications experiments.
  • Perform Applications experiments with Promega products based on customer inquiries and concerns and in support of product development efforts, communicating results to appropriate staff.
  • Demonstrate inclusion through your own words and actions, being accountable for a safe workspace and acting with kindness, curiosity, and respect for others.

  • Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a life sciences undergraduate program in biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar, with completed two years of course and laboratory work prior to summer 2025, including biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cell biology.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and with other team members in a cooperative manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid purification, PCR, and electrophoresis.
  • Experience with handling biological samples.
  • Computer background and experience with Windows-based programs.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work with computer equipment frequently.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment (lab coat, goggles, gloves, etc.).
  • Ability to work at a lab bench and with a fume hood frequently.
  • Ability to work routinely with biological samples.
