Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Safety and Reliability Systems Engineer to join our Lunar Permanence business unit. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our Blue Moon lander system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and lead engineering activities, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plans.
  • Develop plans and coordinate completion of system and subsystem safety analysis, providing review, guidance, and expertise of safety analysis products.
  • Ensure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
  • Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
  • Work together with Lunar Systems Engineers to establish standard methodologies and explore possibilities for implementing common processes across projects.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Experience with performing safety analyses including one of the following: Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and mitigation plans.
  • Ability to coordinate safety analysis products across collaborators and experts from different engineering fields to develop safety and reliability products.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in one subject area (or several areas) used to design, develop, and evaluate spacecraft sub-systems such as Guidance, Navigation, and Control, Command and Data Handling, Communications, Environmental Control and Life Support Systems, Electrical Power Systems, Propulsion and Fluid Systems, Software, Structures & Mechanisms, Thermal, and Fuel Cells.
  • System development/integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware.
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as JAMA and Cameo.
