This position is situated within the Blue Origin Engines division, where our emphasis lies on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of propulsion systems and engines.

Our versatile family of engines is set to power the next generation of rockets across commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight missions.

As a vital member of our dedicated team of engineers, you will work alongside engine and vehicle teams to formulate strategies aimed at minimizing maintenance costs associated with our launch systems, ensuring that we avoid localized optimizations at the engine level.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with engine and vehicle teams to analyze operational cost models for launch systems.
  • Identify components that significantly impact operational maintenance expenses.
  • Devise and execute plans to lower recurring maintenance costs.
  • Establish guidelines for spare parts management.
  • Formulate long-term strategies to enhance engine service life.
  • Develop methodologies, processes, and tools focused on design-for-maintainability.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated history of building trust and effective working relationships.
  • B.S. degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in reliability, maintainability, or serviceability.
  • Experience in design, development, integration, or testing, preferably with aerospace hardware.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to foster trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in developing preventive maintenance plans for complex electro-mechanical systems such as spacecraft, aircraft, or intricate ground transportation systems.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle cost analysis and economical repair assessments.
  • Experience in reliability/life test design, including failure modes discovery, life demonstration, and screening, as well as Weibull analysis and reliability growth modeling.
  • Proficiency in conducting reliability analyses, including FMECA and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as MatLab, VBA, and Python for process automation.
  • Fundamental project management capabilities.
