Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Systems Analyst to become part of our dynamic team focused on applied modeling and simulation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, including operations researchers, weapon scientists, and intelligence analysts, to support various national security initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Utilizing advanced tools such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) software to evaluate military technologies and systems across different missions and operational contexts.
- Applying a mix of technical expertise, critical thinking, and design principles to test and propose alternatives aimed at achieving desired mission results.
- Working within the Computational Engineering Division to support programs related to Strategic Deterrence and Global Security.
Collaboration and Communication
You will engage with scientists and researchers in a multidisciplinary environment, focusing on the application of key technologies to military operations. Your role will involve:
- Leveraging AFSIM and related modeling tools to analyze the application of technologies to specific missions, evaluating potential courses of action and operational utility.
- Contributing to original research that meets program and sponsor requirements.
- Providing insights and recommendations for enhancing modeling and simulation technologies.
- Modifying and improving existing combat simulation tools.
Project Management
As part of your duties, you will manage multiple projects and priorities, ensuring deadlines are met while working independently. This may involve:
- Traveling as necessary to coordinate research with collaborators and visit various stakeholders.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a related field.
- Experience in modeling military planning and operations.
- Proficiency in developing and utilizing conflict simulation tools.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and presentation of technical information.
Additional Qualifications
For those at a more advanced level, significant experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or UNIX shell scripting is preferred, along with expertise in leading technical teams and engaging with external stakeholders.
