Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist plays a vital role within our interdisciplinary team, collaborating with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists to deliver holistic and coordinated patient care services. This role involves evaluating patient conditions and providing education to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, care plans, and available community resources.

Patient Focus:

Our facility caters to individuals referred for care following neurological incidents such as strokes, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries, in addition to those seeking assistance with fall prevention and lymphedema management.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient needs.
  • Facilitate educational initiatives for patients and families.
  • Coordinate care with various healthcare professionals.
  • Exhibit leadership through community education programs and participation in professional committees.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a current RN license or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont. The University of Vermont Medical Center is transitioning towards an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Certification as a Certified Rehab Registered Nurse (CRRN) is preferred.

Experience Required:

A minimum of two years of relevant RN experience is essential for this position.
