Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Access Team Lead to join our team at Raleigh General Hospital. As a key member of our Patient Access department, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support to our Patient Access Specialists, ensuring the smooth operation of our registration processes, and providing exceptional customer service to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Patient Access Specialists, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Conduct patient/guarantor interviews, explain hospital policies, and ensure pre-certification and/or authorization are obtained.
  • Collect patient liability and perform daily cash reconciliation, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
  • Work collaboratively with ancillary departments to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
  • Mentor and train new employees on patient registration activities and provide support to the Patient Access management team.
  • Monitor and measure team performance, providing input into staff performance appraisals, schedules, and resolving employee issues.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; at least three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education.
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier, printer, calculator, fax machine.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and take on-call responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical terminology, billing, and/or collection experience.
  • Computer experience required, with two to three years of recent experience in an acute healthcare setting preferred.
