Position Overview

The Lead Product Engineer is expected to possess entrepreneurial aspirations and a robust professional background. We seek an innovative problem solver capable of overseeing everything from high-level project objectives to the intricate details of each component. The role encompasses technical development and project management for a diverse range of products, guiding them from initial concepts through design, validation testing, and production. This position will report directly to the Product Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Product Development, Safety, and Quality teams to create children's toys and products that foster early development.
  • Oversee entire product lines throughout the New Product Development process.
  • Design and assess products to comply with stringent safety, regulatory, and performance standards.
  • Provide insights on material selection feasibility to meet product specifications.
  • Act as the Engineering Point of Contact with Quality Engineers, Safety, and Product Development for product pipelines.
  • Communicate product milestones effectively in interdepartmental meetings.
  • Maintain direct relationships with suppliers to evaluate designs and enhance manufacturability.
  • Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing techniques and materials for new or existing products. Up to 25% international travel may be required to suppliers.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in the children's toy sector, including expertise in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and computer-aided design (Solidworks).
  • 5 years of experience with polymers and design for injection molding, model making, and prototyping.
  • 5 years of experience adhering to consumer product safety standards.
  • 2 years of experience drafting technical standards using Engineering PDM systems.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering project management and executing projects independently.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or U.S. equivalent in Operations, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with 5 years of experience as a Product Engineer in the toy industry.
  • Local candidates preferred; relocation may be necessary.
