Position Overview

This is an itinerant role designed to provide support across various paraprofessional functions, including but not limited to TK, Resource, and Mod Severe programs, with a focus on behavioral assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the site administrator and a credentialed educator, the individual will engage in a range of instructional activities, clerical tasks, and other related duties as necessary.

  • Assist educators in delivering learning materials and facilitating instructional exercises.
  • Provide tutoring to individuals and small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
  • Monitor and support students during practice and study sessions following instructional presentations.
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies to assist in pupil behavior management.
  • Prepare instructional materials and educational aids.
  • Maintain accurate records and files, including confidential student information.
  • Support students in utilizing instructional equipment.
  • Manage inventory of educational materials and supplies.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and organized learning environment.
  • Supervise activities during recess and other breaks.

Qualifications:

Knowledge Required:
Understanding of child development principles and behavioral characteristics; effective student behavior management techniques; proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; basic mathematical concepts; familiarity with record management systems.

Skills and Abilities:
Exhibit a patient and understanding demeanor towards students of diverse ages and abilities; communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; perform routine clerical tasks and operate various educational and office equipment; utilize appropriate instructional materials to foster a positive learning atmosphere; follow oral and written instructions; build cooperative relationships with students and staff.

Physical Requirements:
The role may require lifting and moving objects weighing between 10 to 20 pounds regularly. While the majority of the work involves sitting, there may be instances requiring brief periods of walking or standing. Essential functions include auditory perception, visual acuity, depth perception, and manual dexterity for operating equipment and handling materials.

Experience and Education:
A combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills is required. Typically, this includes:

Experience:
At least one year of paid or volunteer experience working with children across multiple age groups.

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates for Title I funded positions must meet specific educational requirements as outlined by state and federal guidelines.

Employment Conditions:
Eligibility for insurability by the District's liability insurance, contingent upon background checks and health screenings.

Additional Requirements:
Submission of a completed application and relevant documentation, including proof of educational qualifications and recommendations.
