Mechanical Design Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer I or II is a key member of the Raycap team in Charleston, SC, responsible for creating 3D modeling and design drawing packages for antenna concealment structures in the Telecom industry.

This is an onsite, in-office position that requires collaboration with fellow engineers, sales managers, and production staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment to analyze customer requirements and develop design solutions.
  • Complete engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor to ensure conformance standards.
  • Develop engineering designs based on Raycap's manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate detailing of items on fabrication drawings through design collaboration, peer-review, and drafting checks.
  • Communicate with engineering, composite fabrication, and steel fabrication vendors as needed.
  • Participate in engineering review meetings and R&D efforts as required.
  • Maintain a list of completed jobs within the engineering department.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accreditation a plus).
  • Prior experience with creation of assembly of 3D sub-assemblies into main assemblies using solid modeling CAD software (Inventor/Solidworks a plus).
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with low-volume, high-mix products preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work onsite, in-office daily, and support manufacturing as needed.
  • Ability to work to a schedule and achieve timelines.
