Job Summary:

The Academic Advisor will play a critical role in supporting students to achieve academic success and reach their career goals. This will involve working closely with students, parents, and teachers to develop and implement personalized learning plans, providing guidance on course selection and career pathways, and ensuring that students have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement personalized learning plans for students, taking into account their academic strengths, weaknesses, and career aspirations.
  • Provide guidance on course selection and career pathways, ensuring that students are well-informed and equipped to make informed decisions about their future.
  • Work closely with teachers and other school staff to ensure that students receive the support and resources they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and to ensure that they are engaged in their child's education.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local universities, colleges, and employers to provide students with opportunities for internships, work experience, and career development.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in education policy and practice, and ensure that the school's programs and services are aligned with best practice.
  • Contribute to the development of the school's curriculum and programs, ensuring that they are relevant, engaging, and effective in meeting the needs of students.
  • Provide support and guidance to students who are experiencing difficulties with their studies, including those who are struggling with academic work, attendance, or behavior.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the school community to ensure that students receive a comprehensive and supportive education.

Key Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.
  • Proven experience of working with students, parents, and teachers to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
