Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Fiber Optic Network Engineer to join our team at TEKsystems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining data and voice cables that connect residential television systems with home routers or other cabled devices such as security cameras.

About the Role

This is a challenging position that requires a high level of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. As a Fiber Optic Network Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Installing Telecommunications Equipment: Installing televisions, cables, routers, and IT devices to ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting Issues: Troubleshooting problems with the cable network to minimize downtime and ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Maintaining Infrastructure: Repairing and maintaining cable poles, towers, and other equipment to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Safety Procedures: Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Administrative Tasks: Completing paperwork such as timesheets, checklists, vehicle inspection reports, and service orders.

Requirements and Skills

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A proven track record as a Fiber Optic Network Engineer or similar role.
  • The ability to install complex internet and television equipment.
  • The capacity to work in cramped and/or high-altitude spaces.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high school diploma and cable installation training preferred.

Estimated Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year based on location and experience.
