Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Program Director to lead our Victim Services program. This role involves developing and implementing community outreach programs to identify, recruit, and assess target populations of adult and child victims of crimes. The successful candidate will plan, prepare, and conduct office, home, and off-site services, including risk assessment and safety planning, crisis intervention, information about the criminal justice process, victims' compensation information and assistance, court advocacy and accompaniment, and linkage to other needed community services and supports.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing community outreach programs to identify, recruit, and assess target populations of adult and child victims of crimes;
  • Planning, preparing, and conducting office, home, and off-site services, including risk assessment and safety planning, crisis intervention, information about the criminal justice process, victims' compensation information and assistance, court advocacy and accompaniment, and linkage to other needed community services and supports;
  • Selecting, supervising, and revising program curricula designed to provide education, information, and support to target populations for staff use;
  • Supporting NVAP staff in working collaboratively with other service providers;
  • Facilitating case reviews as required;
  • Representing the agency in related neighborhood and community meetings, groups, and committees;
  • Attending agency and program required meetings;
  • Maintaining the program's compliance with NVAP's funding requirements and the expectations and policies of Family CT;
  • Developing and presenting child and family violence, crime prevention, crime victim populations, and family strengthening activity materials;
  • Preparing for, attending, and actively participating in regularly scheduled supervisory meetings with the Director of Community Programs;
  • Providing regularly scheduled, supportive, and meaningful individual and group supervision to program staff, including accompaniment on home visits, observation, and meetings;
  • Providing regular kind, transparent, and constructive feedback and conducting performance evaluation of direct reports annually;
  • Developing program resources to assist staff in effective service delivery;
  • Attending educational trainings in related areas;
  • Promoting the agency's services, programs, image, and philosophy to the public;
  • Responsible for managing own time and schedule;
  • Supervising student interns and guiding staff as task managers with student interns;
  • Performing any other reasonably related duties assigned by the Director of Community Programs;
  • Maintaining timely, accurate, organized, and complete individual case files in agency electronic medical record platform;
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Criminal Justice with at least three years of experience in direct service and supervisory roles. You must have a demonstrated history of taking on progressively greater levels of supervisory/leadership responsibility and a strong understanding of the dynamics of violence and victimization. The ability to maintain and build positive working relationships with community service providers is essential.
