Key Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy. Your responsibilities will encompass:
Role Summary: Engage in various tasks related to the maintenance and operation of vessels.
Primary Duties:
- Efficient operation and upkeep of all ship machinery as instructed
- Preservation of hull, deck, and superstructure
- General cleaning and maintenance
- Operation of deck equipment
- Small boat handling
- Securing deck and project equipment
- Standing designated watches
Assist in ensuring the safe and effective operation of the vessel, crew, and passengers as directed by ship's officers. You will be responsible for routine maintenance and repairs of shipboard systems, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must qualify for ordinance handling certification and possess a Merchant Mariner's Document. A minimum of two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel-powered vessels over 500 HP is preferred, or three years in a related field, or one year of general work experience combined with completion of a relevant technical training program.
