Role Responsibilities:
This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to develop their skills in a dynamic, hands-on setting. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will be part of a team that prioritizes safety, integrity, and professional growth. Your daily tasks will include:
- Evaluating construction material project specifications
- Documenting observations and test outcomes
- Utilizing Metafield for data organization
- Ensuring field and laboratory equipment meets industry standards
- Conducting inspections of construction materials in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC)
- Effectively communicating with management, contractors, and clients to guarantee project success
This role primarily involves outdoor work, providing the excitement of witnessing construction projects progress and knowing you contribute to their realization.
Candidate Profile:
- High school diploma or GED
- 0-2 years of experience in construction testing or inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- Strong communication skills in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Basic math skills with an understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and measurement units
- Ability to perform data entry using various software applications on a mobile device
- Possession of one or more active certifications is a plus, such as:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
- DOT Certifications in Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
Physical Requirements:
Are you prepared to meet the physical demands of this role while utilizing company-provided Personal Protective Equipment? This includes:
- Working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Navigating rough and uneven terrain
- Standing for extended periods, up to 12 hours when necessary
- Regularly lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Safely maneuvering field equipment on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling for assignments as needed
- Working outside standard business hours when required
