Inspector Assistant

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking an experienced Inspector's Aide to join our Florida team. The successful candidate will support the CE&I team with testing and inspections of soil, concrete, and/or asphalt materials.

• Monitor and inspect highway construction to ensure compliance with safety, plans, specifications, and other contract requirements.
• Perform engineering inspection activities such as construction observation of concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout construction for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, FDOT, and/or project specifications.
• Conduct and record daily construction record-keeping as well as perform traffic and erosion control inspections as applicable.
• Interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives.
• Sample and test construction materials to ensure they meet the quality requirements of the project specifications.
• Verify calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards.
• Prepare sample information for submittal to our AASHTO Accredited Lab.

• High school diploma/GED required; Associate or BS in Civil Engineering preferred.
• Roadway inspection experience preferred.
• Experience with testing/inspections of soil, concrete and/or asphalt materials preferred.
• FDOT Intermediate MOT certification required - must receive within six months of hire.
• Must have math calculation skills and MS Office experience.
• Strong written and communication skills are required.
• A valid Driver's License is required with a safe driving record and must complete a pre-employment screening.

This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds sometimes on a frequent basis.

The employee must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature.

The employee must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures and work in various types of weather and field conditions, including heights, uneven terrain, highway traffic, hazards of highway construction sites and heavy equipment.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week). Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing one unpaid hour for lunch each day.

While overtime is generally not anticipated, occasional projects or deadlines may necessitate additional hours, compensated according to company policy.

Flexible schedules may be available with prior approval from the immediate supervisor.
