Job Summary

The Family Partner is a vital member of our team at Texana Center, responsible for promoting and developing the skills of families with children who have emotional, behavioral, or mental health disorders. This role requires a unique blend of empathy, expertise, and organizational skills to provide guidance and support to families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist parents/caregivers in becoming advocates for their children, providing guidance on utilizing existing services and developing natural resources within the family and community.
  • Engage families in the recovery process, providing ongoing training and support to sustain success and improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans with families, identifying strengths, needs, skills, supports, and resources.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team to ensure comprehensive care and support for families.
  • Document all interactions and progress in accordance with established performance benchmarks and standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Family Partner at hire or within 6 months of hire
  • Texas driver's license in good standing
  • Personal experience as a parent of a child who has received services from a child-serving agency for mental health-related issues
  • Ability to articulate their lived experience and provide peer support in a mental health setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Family Partner
  • Previous experience providing peer support in a mental health or substance abuse setting
  • Spanish speaking skills
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform CPR and SAMA
  • Ability to perform moderate lifting and carrying, pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting, and twisting
  • Ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle, and have depth perception
