The Tampa JCC Federation Inc. is in search of a dynamic and dependable individual to join our Club J afterschool initiative. This program caters to children from kindergarten through 5th grade, and it is essential for counselors to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants while fostering an enjoyable and supportive environment.
We offer flexible part-time and full-time opportunities across various shifts from morning to evening.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a positive role model for Club J participants.
- Engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Support daily program functions, which may include transporting children from designated schools.
- Assist in the organization and cleanup of program areas and activities.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and collaborate well within a team setting.
- Implement and comply with all Club J policies and procedures.
- Supervise children in your care, ensuring constant awareness of their whereabouts.
- Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques to guide children positively.
- Lead various activities, including homework assistance and enrichment programs such as arts and crafts, sports, and team-building exercises.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Be available to work during Club J Vacation Days.
- Report any concerns regarding children or staff to the manager or supervisor.
- Demonstrate responsibility for all participants through sound judgment, safety awareness, and ethical conduct.
- Exhibit qualities of leadership, patience, confidentiality, creativity, reliability, and trustworthiness.
- Ensure that all children have a rewarding and enjoyable experience in the Club J program.
- Professional demeanor.
- Adaptability to changes in activities with minimal notice.
- Positive outlook.
- Capability to manage groups of children effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Must possess a clean driving record.
- If driving is required, candidates must be at least 21 years old.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Compliance with all necessary background checks.
- Participation in all staff training and development sessions.
- Maintenance of an annual physical examination.
- High School diploma is required.
- Some college experience or a degree is preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Capability to bend, kneel, stoop, and squat as needed.
- Extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing are required.
- Frequent use of hands for various tasks.
