Afterschool Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Afterschool Counselor to join our team at the Northwest Family YMCA. As a key member of our after school program, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for youth to grow and develop.

• Provide individualized support and guidance to youth, helping them to build self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
• Develop and implement engaging and culturally relevant programs that promote youth development and academic success.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for youth.
• Maintain accurate records and reports, including attendance, behavior, and progress notes.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in youth development and counseling.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience working with youth in a school, community, or volunteer setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with children, parents, and peers; demonstrate character, integrity, adaptability, and patience in communicating with others.
• Certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
