Job Summary:

The University at Albany is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Project Manager to oversee the design and construction of building mechanical systems. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in mechanical engineering and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage capital construction improvement projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement project plans.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, architects, and engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, laws, and standards regulating design and construction.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project quality and safety.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in the design of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems (HVAC systems) for buildings.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, laws, rules, and standards regulating design and construction.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of construction and construction management practices and procedures.
  • Ability to understand construction contract documents.
  • Strong technology skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • SUNY experience.
  • Experience working with SUCF and/or DASNY.
  • NYS Building Safety Inspector or Code Enforcement Officer.
