Job Summary

The Chair of Education Graduate Programs is a critical leadership position at Cairn University, responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the Ed.D. program. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership, administrative oversight, and support for the graduate programs, ensuring their alignment with the university's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach an appropriate number of courses within the Ed.D. program and School of Education.
  • Collaborate with admissions staff to train them on the graduate education programs.
  • Provide oversight for the development and launch of the Ed.D. program.
  • Assist the School Dean in curriculum development and refinement.
  • Participate in the recruitment of program faculty and provide academic and professional training.
  • Collaborate with the School Dean in assigning teaching responsibilities to program faculty.
  • Assist the School Dean in developing and administering graduate program budgets.
  • Plan and lead department meetings and make recommendations to enhance collegiality.
  • Assist the School Dean in working with Marketing and Admissions to develop recruitment and retention strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • PhD in Education or EdD.
  • Experience teaching in higher education for 5 or more years.
  • Proven experience with online course development and delivery.
  • Clear understanding of and agreement with the University's mission.
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and oversee an annual budget.
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to leading faculty and students in the development of their biblical worldview.
