Job Summary

Cairn University is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as the Chair of Education Graduate Programs. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to academic excellence.

The Chair will provide oversight for the existing online Master's in Education program and Cairn University's new Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) program. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a robust learning environment, upholding the University's mission, and providing academic leadership, administrative oversight, and support for the graduate programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of and commitment to the University's mission, as well as experience teaching in higher education, online course development and delivery, and team-building and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic leadership and administrative oversight for the graduate programs
  • Foster a robust learning environment and uphold the University's mission
  • Collaborate with admissions staff to train them on the graduate education programs
  • Assist the School Dean in curriculum development and refinement
  • Participate in the recruitment of an effective program faculty
  • Collaborate with the School Dean in assigning semester teaching responsibilities to program faculty
  • Assist the School Dean in developing and administering the graduate program budgets
  • Make recommendations to enhance collegiality within the school
  • Assist the School Dean in working with Marketing and Admissions to develop recruitment and retention strategies for the graduate education programs
Requirements
  • Earned PhD in Education or Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.)
  • Experience teaching in higher education for 5 or more years
  • Proven experience with online course development and delivery
  • Clear understanding of and agreement with the University's mission and how the school contributes to the fulfillment of that mission
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills
  • Proven organizational and administrative skills
  • Commitment to leading faculty and students in the development and cultivation of their biblical worldview
