Join Our Team as a Technical Sourcing Manager

Banner Engineering is a leading manufacturer of industrial sensors, LED lights, and monitoring solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sourcing Manager to join our team.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that reports to the Executive VP of Operations. As a Technical Sourcing Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of commodity analysts and overseeing the procurement process for industrial commodities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate and develop suppliers of goods and services that offer a strategic partnership to the company
  • Develop and oversee a communication and information flow structure with suppliers to ensure efficient production of quality products and services
  • Coordinate new product development sourcing projects and resourcing projects to meet the needs of the company
  • Drive the development of new suppliers by evaluating their availability, quality, and cost of materials and services
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions, lead-times, and formulate contracts/agreements with suppliers to minimize total cost, improve quality, and assure on-time delivery
  • Participate in and/or manage commodity teams to improve internal communications, understanding, and promote consensus management and decision making
  • Work in unison with design engineering to develop new products via raw materials, design options, and/or procurement opportunities that lower product costs and/or enhance the quality and value of Banner products
  • Place orders for prototype parts
  • Develop the team by conducting performance and salary reviews, coaching, performing employee relations tasks, and managing the team's workload
  • Act as the SME within the team while supervising sourcing activities in close collaboration and alignment with business operations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering
  • 5-7 years direct purchasing/buying/sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, domestically and internationally
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical components
  • Good working knowledge of industrial markets, manufacturing processes, and technical aspects of industrial commodities
  • Excellent negotiation skills that break down barriers between parties resulting in agreements of mutual acceptance
  • Basic understanding of quality assurance principles
  • Well-organized and disciplined with high work standards
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and suppliers, both domestic and international
  • Strong ability to perform maturely under stress and/or opposition
  • Intermediate-to-advanced level of Excel and ability to utilize all Microsoft Office products
