Position Overview:


The Surgical Technician II plays a vital role in the operating room by ensuring a sterile environment for surgical procedures. This includes the meticulous setup of sterile instruments, assisting surgeons with gowning and gloving, and properly draping patients for surgery.

In this position, you will provide direct support to the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of the surgeons throughout the procedure.

Additionally, you will contribute to the operational efficiency of the department by managing the distribution of supplies and performing necessary equipment maintenance, testing, and setup.

It is essential to adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety, ultimately delivering optimal care.

Responsibilities may also include performing specific procedures and assisting in the orientation of new staff members within the department.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED

Completion of an accredited surgical technology program

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year of recent relevant experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Comprehensive understanding of surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment.

Ability to interpret various forms of data and instructions, whether written, oral, or diagrammatic.

Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including those without medical backgrounds.


Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks and adhering to standardized operating procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.

Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Capable of identifying, evaluating, and resolving standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.

Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
