Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to join our team at Steelcase. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of raw materials, inventory, and supplies. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Management: Develop and implement strategies to optimize cost management and reduce waste.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of raw materials and supplies.
  • Team Supervision: Directly supervise a team of employees responsible for materials management and inventory control.
  • Product Development: Support product development at launch by participating in a mentorship program and providing expertise on raw materials management.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve problems related to inventory management, supply chain disruptions, and other operational issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: In a relevant field such as supply chain management, operations management, or business administration.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a materials management or inventory control position.
  • SAP Experience: Strong preference for candidates with experience using SAP or other enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: Master's degree in a relevant field such as supply chain management, operations management, or business administration.
  • Experience with SAP: Minimum of 2 years of experience using SAP or other enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Materials Management Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a materials management or inventory control position, preferably with at least 10 direct reports.
