About the Position

Education Through Music is seeking a dedicated and passionate Music Educator to join our team. As a Music Educator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing music programs in public schools, working closely with program staff to create engaging and inclusive experiences for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement music programs in public schools, aligning with Education Through Music's mission and values
  • Collaborate with program staff to create engaging and inclusive music experiences for students
  • Conduct music classes, workshops, and performances, adapting to the needs and abilities of students
  • Assist in the development and implementation of music curriculum, ensuring alignment with state and national standards
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administrators to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance music education skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience teaching music to groups of up to 30 children
  • Ability to model quality singing and music performance in front of children
  • Sound musical knowledge and understanding of musical pedagogy practices
  • Living in close proximity to Staten Island
  • Ability to walk up several flights of stairs and lift up to 15lbs of equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Music Education or a related field
  • Certification to teach in the state of New York or any other state
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching music in New York City Public Schools
  • Singing, conducting, keyboard, guitar, and presentation skills
  • Prior experience teaching Band, Orchestra, Modern Band, and Choir
  • Comfortability with Music Technology Software such as Soundtrap
