About the Role

The University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Diversity. This key position plays a critical role in advancing the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the university.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to create a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments and units on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Develop and manage budgets to support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to advance the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in equity and diversity program-building and administration leadership within a large, complex environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in team leadership, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make high-level presentations to senior and board-level leaders.
  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation for a consultative and collaborative approach to planning and management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within a large public research university, preferably with an academic health system.
  • Experience navigating federal and state budgets, laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Record of ensuring that organizational resources are aligned to optimize the ability to reach institutional priorities and are managed responsibly.
