Summary:

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is seeking applications for a full-time Acute Care Physical Therapist II role. This position supports our Enhanced Rehabilitation program within the acute hospital environment, where the PT II will deliver thorough evaluations and therapeutic interventions to a varied patient demographic with differing acuity levels. The selected individual will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure exceptional patient-centered care, promoting functional recovery and effective discharge planning throughout care transitions.

The chosen candidate will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of unit-based care team models aimed at optimizing patient care outcomes and best practices. The PT II will also provide clinical oversight and mentorship to fellow staff and students, facilitate clinical practice development initiatives, and may supervise support personnel. Strong time management and communication skills are essential in this dynamic environment; prior clinical experience in acute care is highly preferred. A robust work ethic and a growth-oriented mindset are crucial attributes for prospective applicants.

Work Schedule: The selected candidate will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with potential weekend and holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete PT documentation in the medical record according to departmental guidelines and manage departmental records for billing and statistics.
2. Assess patients, establish Physical Therapy (PT) treatment objectives, develop a PT treatment strategy, and manage resources necessary to execute the treatment plan to achieve the set goals.
3. Efficiently manage a PT caseload.
4. Plan and coordinate clinical programs.
5. Provide clinical supervision and instruction for multiple students and/or staff, including planning orientation, caseload, and other educational activities. Offer regular feedback and coaching, and evaluate learner performance.

Additional Information:
Education Requirements:
● Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina.
● BLS certification.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, including at least one (1) year in the specialty field.
