Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Research Engineer to join our team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble large, complex sets of data that meet research requirements
  • Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using cloud and SQL technologies
  • Integrate analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, solving research problems posed by the stakeholders and data science team
  • Work with a team of engineers, faculty, students, and customers to assist them with data-related technical and resource issues
  • Execute tasking within an Agile development process
  • Keep current with relevant emerging technologies and trends by attending conferences and workshops relevant to department and project goals
Requirements
  • PostgreSQL
  • Python
  • FastAPI
  • Security+ or similar level of certification
  • Preferred: Data flow automation using NiFi, PostGIS, Active TS/SCI clearance
About the Role

This role will be filled at the intermediate professional or advanced professional level, depending on the successful candidate's education and experience. Minimally requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline plus 5 years related experience for the advanced professional level. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades, is $86,000.00 to $164,000.00. Salary Structure information can be found on Penn State's job and salary structure page.
