Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent services to families, using established methods and techniques to complete processes and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive assessments of individuals and families, identifying needs and providing or securing appropriate services.
  • Collaborate with agency staff, clients, and other professionals to ensure effective service delivery and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records and information, adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Recruit and retain foster families, providing support and training as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including on-call availability as needed.
  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect, adhering to state child protection statutes and agency policies.
  • Participate in phone calls, home visits, court hearings, and other appointments to ensure services are being rendered effectively.
  • Provide support, training, and education on foster care policy and procedure as required.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor case plans and services, ensuring effective service delivery and desired outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain clear and concise reports and documents, adhering to agency and state licensing policies and procedures.
  • Attend court hearings as required, providing accurate testimony and recommendations regarding case progress and services rendered.
  • Provide transportation assistance to clients as needed.
  • Complete investigations in accordance with state or agency regulations, as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services area, such as social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
  • One year of experience as a social service worker, with completion of CWTI in foster care or adoption preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency policy, procedures, and operations, as well as state and federal social welfare laws and policies.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, conduct correspondence, and communicate verbally with a range of clients and professionals.
  • High level of communication skills, decision-making skills, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to navigate computer systems comfortably.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good moral character and emotional stability, with a professional demeanor.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability, if applicable.
  • Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background and central registry checks.
