Job Summary

The Corporate Engineer plays a critical role in supporting Avient's global operations, focusing on project management, program support, manufacturing, and continuous improvement/change management. This position requires collaboration across businesses and corporate functions to drive improvements in engineering standards, program implementation, capital project management, and other areas of project need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement engineering best practices.
  • Coordinate enterprise-wide strategic projects and programs, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Provide MES engineering support, including leading monthly Governance Council calls and cross-business support.
  • Liaise with sourcing to drive standardization of processing equipment and instrumentation/electrical.
  • Support the development of reporting in the analytics space, leveraging data and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with businesses and corporate sourcing to develop standards for operations, selecting equipment and instrumentation.
  • Support the Engineering Early Talent program, including recruiting, training, and ongoing development.
  • Lead special projects across businesses, managing or overseeing special capital projects as needed.
  • Support the Director of Manufacturing Improvement, contributing to strategic imperatives, including lean manufacturing and other initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in manufacturing, with project management experience.
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma, with Black Belt certification preferred.
Competencies
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a consistent high performance record.
  • Excellent business acumen, with a solid understanding of multi-functional business issues.
  • Working knowledge of EHS, Quality, and manufacturing requirements for operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data from multiple systems and data sources.
  • Ability to put structure and discipline around defined processes.
  • Project management skills, including time management, planning, resource tracking, and data summarization.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage milestones and deadlines.
  • Results-driven, flexible, and able to lead and influence across a matrix organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate within a global organization.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with spreadsheet applications (MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Access). SAP knowledge a plus.
Physical Demands

The Corporate Engineer must be able to travel up to 50% of the time and traverse through all parts and all levels of a manufacturing plant. The role requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods, talking, and listening.
