Responsibilities
The Operating Room Registered Nurse will report directly to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, while also collaborating with the House Supervisor. This role involves delivering both direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative environment, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups, from neonates to older adults. The RN will coordinate patient care with the surgical team, including surgeons and anesthesiologists, while providing guidance to OR Technicians and other staff members, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards. The RN will also work in conjunction with various departments to facilitate a seamless continuum of care, promoting efficient patient flow and maintaining unit organization. Compliance with regulations, standards, and hospital policies is essential, as is participation in Performance Improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and educational in-services. The RN will serve as a resource for colleagues as needed.Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and ongoing maintenance.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of hire and ongoing maintenance.
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 30 days of hire and ongoing maintenance.
- A minimum of one year of prior perioperative experience or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
