Position Overview:


The Quality Improvement Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing all facets of operations at Hitachi Data Systems by evaluating processes and identifying areas for enhancement.

This role involves the development, management, and leadership of cross-departmental quality improvement initiatives that align with the quality objectives of Hitachi Data Systems.

As a champion of change, this individual must effectively inspire and guide cross-functional teams towards achieving sustainable results by employing Lean Six Sigma methodologies and best practices.

This position serves as a vital communication conduit among all departments to ensure the ongoing alignment of objectives in support of quality enhancement initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:
1. Educate, mentor, and inspire staff in the comprehension and integration of new methodologies, processes, and systems, including Six Sigma.
2. Anticipate future Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) by analyzing reliability data.
3. Measure and propel internal quality performance enhancements for key quality indicators: Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
4. Lead and support root cause analysis for significant customer quality challenges and COPQ.
5. Examine and assess processes across functions to identify gaps and inefficiencies based on established standards, best practices, and performance metrics.
6. Collaborate with operations on process assessments and continuous improvement efforts.

7. Spearhead projects aimed at enhancing the quality of processes, products, and components, driven by internal/external findings, customer feedback, and warranty evaluations.

8. Conduct joint investigations of complex issues with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and other departments to identify root causes and support the development of corrective actions.

9. Develop, manage, and lead continuous improvement projects that align with departmental strategies and objectives.
10. Oversee a portfolio of quality enhancement projects and execute them utilizing Six Sigma and quality assurance tools.
11. Maintain and refine methods for collecting, tracking, and presenting operational quality data and metrics.
12. Share best practices across products and departments and promote standardization.
13. Specify, justify, and implement new technologies and system enhancements.
14. Engage in deploying and demonstrating modules such as Change Management, Lean Six Sigma Overview, Teamwork & Training, Visual Factory Management, Continuous Improvement, Poka-Yoke, and Standard Work.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is REQUIRED (preferably in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering).
Certifications such as ASQ CQE, PMP, and Six Sigma Black Belt are preferred.

Professional Experience:
5+ years of experience in Continuous Improvement Engineering within a manufacturing environment, ideally in heavy equipment or automotive sectors.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative on projects.
Extensive experience in quality assurance.
Strong background in applying Lean Six Sigma principles and techniques.
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Proven track record of motivating and leading cross-functional teams on projects.
Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is advantageous.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
