Position Overview
AECOM's Design and Consulting Services-Americas legal department is seeking a skilled attorney to provide support for operations in the East Region.

Work Arrangement
This role offers a hybrid work model, requiring a blend of remote work and in-office presence, with an expectation of being in the office at least three days a week.

Location
The position can be based in major AECOM offices within the Mid-Atlantic region.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in construction law and contract-related legal matters pertaining to engineering, construction, and technical services.

Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Providing guidance on risk management and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, subcontracts, and various legal documents associated with architecture, engineering, construction, and environmental services.
  • Advising management and staff on pre-litigation disputes and potential claims.
  • Overseeing litigation processes, including professional liability and breach of contract cases, while managing external counsel to optimize quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Handling subpoenas, document requests, and other litigation-related tasks with minimal support.
  • Conducting research on legislation, case law, and emerging government policies relevant to contract-specific matters.
  • Preparing and reviewing legal memoranda and briefs concerning organizational risks and activities.
  • Offering guidance on compliance with federal and provincial laws, statutes, and regulations.
  • Supporting multiple offices and collaborating with team members across the East Region as needed.
  • Promoting the legal department's objectives of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department, the company, and with external vendors.
