Veterinarian Assistant

Join the County of Volusia, FL team as a Veterinarian Assistant and contribute to the Animal Services Division. This role is based in Daytona Beach, Florida, and involves skilled technical work assisting the Veterinarian in a stationary and mobile spay/neuter clinic.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist the Veterinarian in a stationary and mobile spay/neuter clinic
- Administer medication or vaccines to animals
- Monitor patients before and after surgery
- Keep track of all medical records
- Train and supervise volunteers
- Interact with the public, providing excellent customer service
- Graduation from high school or possession of G.E.D.
- Two (2) years' experience working in a veterinarian office assisting with animal spay/neuter surgery
- Certification as a veterinary technician
- Valid driver's license
- Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment
- Valid Florida Class B CDL within three (3) months of appointment
- Two (2) years of experience working in a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinic environment
- Knowledge of proper care and handling of domestic species under stressful situations
- Knowledge of veterinarian medical terms and medications
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter environment
