Job Overview

The Patient Access Representative (Rep) plays a crucial role in the Patient Access Services (PAS) framework. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring a seamless experience for patients and their families.


Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
  • Certification in all Patient Access Services functions is expected within the first year of employment.

Skills and Experience:
  • Typing proficiency of 25-30 words per minute and successful completion of a clerical assessment are necessary.
  • Post-training, candidates must pass internal evaluations to confirm proficiency in Patient Access Services software.
  • Prior experience in hospital admissions, business office settings, or physician's offices is preferred.

Knowledge Requirements:
Upon completion of training, the candidate must successfully pass internal certification tests to validate their understanding of the competencies required in the Patient Access Services Department.

Safety Considerations:

This position is classified as NOT safety sensitive. However, it is essential to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all patients, staff, and visitors. Therefore, individuals engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana card, will not be eligible for employment in safety-sensitive roles.


Key Responsibilities:

The PAS Rep is responsible for:

  • Conducting both outpatient and inpatient registration tasks, including cashiering and verifying insurance details.
  • Ensuring patients fulfill financial obligations.
  • Providing comprehensive information to hospital users, patients, and their families.
  • Effectively communicating with service delivery teams to enhance patient flow and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Delivering exceptional patient-centered customer service.

Physical Demands:

This role requires:

  • Sitting for 3-4 hours, standing for 3-4 hours, and walking for 3-4 hours.
  • Moderate lifting of 20-25 pounds, occurring 1-10 times daily.
  • Frequent fine motor skills usage and manual dexterity for computer tasks.
  • Good visual and auditory discrimination.
