Job Summary

USA Health is seeking a highly skilled HIM Trauma Registrar I to join our team. As a key member of our trauma program, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of trauma data abstraction and coding.

Responsibilities
  • Abstract and code trauma data accurately and efficiently, adhering to established standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain the trauma registry and databases, ensuring compliance with American College of Surgeons and state health department standards.
  • Review Emergency Department registration and admission records daily to identify trauma admissions for entry into the trauma registry software.
  • Screen death reports and emergency records for trauma case identification, and review electronic medical records to assess information required for abstraction.
  • Enter core information into approved software, maintaining confidentiality and security of patient data.
  • Code trauma-specific injuries and AIS scoring, and report data to Alabama Trauma Registry, Mississippi Trauma Registry, and the ACS TQIP program.
  • Maintain quality control of case findings, abstracting, coding, and data processing procedures.
  • Follow established procedures for manual and/or computer retrieval of trauma data, and answer requests for data and prepare special and routine reports as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of related experience in Health Information Management.
  • RHIT or RHIA is preferred and will substitute for the required experience.
