Job Overview

Pace Academy, a distinguished independent college preparatory institution located in Atlanta, Georgia, serves a diverse student body of 1,150 learners from Pre-First through 12th grade. Our mission is to foster a nurturing educational atmosphere that emphasizes global citizenship, service, respect for diversity, and the development of strong character among our students.

We are currently in search of dedicated Substitute Upper School Teachers. These educators will be responsible for delivering instruction, managing classroom dynamics, and facilitating student engagement in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. A passion for working with students and a commitment to educational excellence are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the provided lesson plans from the regular teacher and consult with school leadership to address any questions or concerns.
  • Follow all established school procedures and schedules diligently.
  • Encourage the appropriate use and maintenance of school facilities and resources.
  • Inform the regular teacher of any notable circumstances or issues that arise during the class.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to promote a conducive learning environment.
  • Uphold high standards of student behavior and adhere to the student conduct code.
  • Address and report any concerns to the administration as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow staff members and parents.
  • Utilize available technology to enhance the learning experience.
  • Comply with technology usage policies and respect the privacy of individuals.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Ensure the safety of students and staff at all times.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities when required.
  • Take responsibility for personal actions and decisions.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Completion of a teacher preparation program is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the middle or high school level is highly regarded.
  • A strong sense of humor, adaptability, and a genuine desire to work with adolescents are essential qualities.
  • Availability on short notice is necessary, particularly for unexpected teacher absences.
