The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a skilled Custodian to join our Recreation and Park Department's Custodial Relief Program. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our city's parks, recreation centers, and other facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of buildings, including restrooms, locker rooms, and surrounding areas
  • Operate various cleaning equipment, such as scrubbers, buffers, and pressure washers
  • Remove waste and recyclables from premises
  • Wash interior and exterior windows, glass, and wall partitions
  • Care for custodial tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Secure buildings as required
  • Drive large vans and trucks in a safe manner
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • 6 months of verifiable paid full-time custodial or janitorial experience at a commercial building
  • OR Certificate of completion of a Custodial Training Program equivalent to those certified by the City and County of San Francisco Human Services Agency
  • OR Verification of current enrollment in a custodial training course equivalent to those certified by the City and County of San Francisco Human Services Agency
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License

Working Conditions

  • Maintain availability between 4:00 am - 10:30 pm for at least four (4) consecutive days every week
  • Work alone in the dark during early morning and late night shifts
  • Drive large vehicles during periods of heavy traffic

Desirable Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License
  • Custodial experience in a public sector or municipal government environment
  • Completion of a custodial training program with certificate of completion
  • Two (2) years of verifiable experience working as a custodian
  • Experience providing custodial services to internal and external facilities
  • Broad knowledge of custodial tools and practices
  • Bilingual language skills (English/Spanish, English/Cantonese)
