Role Responsibilities

WSP is embarking on a search for a Vice President of Coastal Restoration Initiatives. You will engage in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and contribute to a dynamic organization that fulfills client objectives and addresses their challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in Environmental Science, Biology, Marine Science, Coastal Engineering, or a related field, coupled with a strong business development acumen. This role requires collaboration with various clients, including regulatory agencies, to effectively communicate our service offerings and spearhead business opportunities. The successful applicant will demonstrate innovative thinking and an open-minded approach to coastal management and protection strategies, alongside extensive experience in local, state, and federal permitting processes.

Your Contributions
  • Collaborate with WSP Project Directors, Project Managers, and technical staff to support diverse environmental projects, including coastal habitat restoration, monitoring, and resiliency planning.
  • Lead and oversee cross-functional teams in executing project work, ensuring compliance with permitting strategies and environmental impact assessments.
  • Coordinate the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental monitoring data, including habitat characterization and water quality assessments.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and permitting of various coastal and marine habitat restoration projects focused on enhancing coastal resilience.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and visual presentations that articulate research findings and methodologies for coastal restoration initiatives.
  • Engage in business development activities, identifying profitable opportunities and contributing to proposal writing and project scoping.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions for coastal restoration and resiliency projects.
  • Facilitate consensus among diverse stakeholders on coastal management issues.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in environmental science and coastal management techniques.
  • Collaborate with professionals across various disciplines to deliver forward-thinking solutions for clients.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and technical staff.
  • Lead meetings with clients and environmental regulatory bodies.
  • Uphold ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Support additional projects as necessary to meet client goals and contribute to company success.
  • Manage your workload effectively and independently.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Marine Science, Coastal Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in coastal habitat restoration, monitoring, and resiliency planning.
  • Proficiency in underwater data collection and coastal species identification.
  • Understanding of the ecological functions of coastal habitats.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis techniques related to coastal and hydraulic modeling.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and permitting processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical reports and environmental permit applications.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget tracking and adherence to project timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently while providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Willingness to work in remote coastal areas and travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • SCUBA certification and experience operating marine vessels.
  • Completion of OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
