The representative ensures that patients receive comprehensive information to maximize their experience with clinic services, all while promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcomes patients and visitors in a friendly, prompt, and professional manner.
- Handles patient check-in and check-out procedures, confirming current information and collecting updated details and documentation as needed.
- Inputs patient insurance details and relevant documents into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Processes payments, issues receipts, and accurately applies copayments or coinsurance to patient accounts.
- Ensures daily reconciliation of charges and fees incurred in the office, preparing deposits as required.
- Schedules follow-up appointments efficiently.
- Manages incoming calls, screens inquiries, takes messages, and communicates effectively with patients, their families, and referring physicians.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to enhance patient care and streamline clinic operations.
- Keeps the reception and work areas organized and tidy at all times.
- Handles the distribution of faxes and mail as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical receptionist role.
- 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification processes.
