Staff Nurse I

At the University of Illinois, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse I to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, utilizing evidence-based practice and standards of nursing excellence.
- Develop, implement, and update patient care plans, based on ongoing assessment and input from patients and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote effective patient care and achieve unit and organizational goals.
- Verify and implement orders from healthcare providers, performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engage patients and families in education and support, promoting health and wellness.
- Participate in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities, supporting department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Requirements:
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills, facilitating therapeutic relationships between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills, with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history required.
- BSN or MSN or DNP graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Minimum one to two years of recent PICU, NICU, ICU, MedSurg, or ED experience required.
